AgStack — A Linux Foundation Project

Open digital infrastructure for global agriculture.

Global agriculture is a multi-trillion-dollar ecosystem under pressure from resource scarcity, climate change, a growing population and changing consumer expectations — and it remains, in the AgStack Foundation’s own words, “massively inefficient.” Much of that inefficiency is not agronomic but digital: the same field boundaries, crop models and supply-chain records get rebuilt from scratch by every organisation that needs them, each behind its own interface, none of them interoperable.

AgStack exists to remove that duplicated effort. It is a Linux Foundation project building free, re-usable, open and specialised digital infrastructure for agricultural data and applications — shared components that anyone, from a smallholder cooperative to a multinational agribusiness, can build on rather than reinvent. The aim is a common, community-maintained substrate for digital agriculture: public infrastructure that lowers the cost of entry, makes systems interoperable by default, and leaves the differentiating work to the people using it.

These pages document the projects that make up that infrastructure. Each section belongs to a separate repository and is maintained by the people who work on it.
